chris mcloughlin

Chris McLoughlin’s contemporary landscapes aim to capture the conscious experience and awareness of a place. Working from observation and inspired by his senses and emotions, he pushes the boundaries of representational painting towards a more phenomenological approach.

This experience of the landscape is translated onto canvas through bold expressive brushwork and an intuitive relationship with colour. The subjects are invariably places that he knows well or visits often and include high mountain top fells and sweeping valley corridors; often working at sunrise and sunset throughout the seasons, chasing the light. The finished paintings reflect a very distinctive body of work with a romantic atmosphere.

Have just booked my tickets to go and see the David Hockney exhibition at the Royal Academy and the Lucian Freud Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London, really looking forward to it :)

It’s been a busy day here, trying to backup all the files. Hopefully I’ll be out in the snow tomorrow :)
